"Tweezy" Producer Turned Rapper

Tumelo Thandokuhle Mathebula also known as Tweezy was born on October 24th, 1992 in Westville Hospital, Durban, South Africa to parents Nomusa Stella Malloy and Mtokozisi Mathebula

With the passing of his parents at the age 6 he moved to Johannesburg where he attended school. He got recommended to the National School of Arts for his obvious artistic talents by his teacher in grade 7, where he studied visual art until his matric year. He got introduced to a music making software called Fruity Loops Studio (FL Studio) in grade 10, thinking it was a music making game at the time, his love for this 'game' grew daily. He later found out it was in fact a music making software.

He later joined a music group called Ghetto Prophecy which consisted of 8 members. The group produced songs that received airplay on various radio stations. They then produced a song called Oh My which ranked number 16 on the top 40 Songs of YFM and play listed on high rotation on Metro FM as well as 5FM in 2011. The song opened doors for the group to keep sending their songs in. Shortly after the group got demotivated to continue because of the lack of funding they decided to split up and went their separate ways and this is when Tweezy decided to venture into the music industry as a music producer.

His journey started in 2013 when he started producing for the likes of the Fraternity and E-Jay, a former member of Ghetto Prophecy that branched out as a solo artist. During the same year a friend realised his talents as a music producer and gave him contacts of affiliates in the music industry which included AKA. Having contacted him, they started working together and produced AKA’s hit single called Run Jozi in 2014. Their musical chemistry also resulted in the release of Sim Dope and All Eyes On Me which both charted number one locally on the South African Electronic Music Africa Charts. Other artists Tweezy has worked with include Chad da Don, Speedsta, L-Tido, Casper Nyovest but to name a few.
In 2014 he received his first nomination for producer of the year at the SA Hip-hop awards. He carried on to produce hits and got nominated for producer of the year once again in 2015 and won the award. Tweezy was also named 2015 producer of the year by Hype Magazine

During the period 2014-2015 he got himself involved in animation work which was part of a graphics company which he had formed with a few friends called Digital Characters. They worked on a few visual arts related projects for the like of Cassper Nyovest music videos and Khuli Chana's Maftown Heights performances.
Accompanied with other chart topping singles (JR’s Soena Papa, E-Jay Hosh & Party ‘til Ekseni), This inevitably led to his Producer of the Year nomination at the 2014 South African Hip Hop Awards. As his dominance on the airwaves became apparent, urban African artists alike, such as: L-Tido, The Fraternity and more have embodied the Tweezy sound.

Tweezy on countless occasions, has been entrusted to deliver his best to many artists dreams of acquiring number 1 status, awards and many other accolades.
Having released his first solo single titled Ambition, the song has received critical acclaim and charted number two on YFM’s Urban Top 40 and an impressive number one on The Bomb Chart.
The “Tweezy Presents...” music series is his collaboration with artists to explore a sonic journey. Reason respectfully became the first artist to embrace the opportunity to be part of the experience.
