The New Age Ma"BREE"

Nomuzi Mabena, fondly known as "Moo-zlie" is a young lady from Benoni, a small suburb east of Johannesburg. Her unique look, quick wit and bubbly personality won her the MTV Base VJ Search, as she beat out thousands of young hopefuls for the number one spot.

Before winning the MTV Base VJ Search, Nomuzi Mabena first got the attention of South Africans as one of the Top 2 Finalists in the SABC 1 Live Presenter Search. She was also one of the Top 6 finalists in the Media Career Guide Presenter Search. Without an Agent or Manager, Nomuzi attended a number of auditions that groomed her to become the television personality and presenter she is today.

Nomuzi also had a short run on an internet radio station called "Rhythm 100" with a weekly radio show entitled "The Lipgloss Diaries", which became popular amongst many females in and around Johannesburg.

From the age of 16, Nomuzi has acted as a Master Of Ceremonies at events such as "TUKS RAG Queen Crowning", Africa's biggest Hip Hop dance competition "Masters Of Rhythm", "Mr & Miss Benoni" , "The MTV Base Live Urban Smooth Sessions", "MTV MAMAs & Road To The MAMAs" and many more. In 2014, Nomuzi was nominated for the GLAMOUR MAGAZINE WOMEN OF THE YEAR READER'S CHOICE AWARDS; she was also part of the MARIE CLAIRE NAKED ISSUE 2014 to raise funds feeding 4 Million South African children. Another career highlight for Nomuzi was hosting the red carpet of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, where she interviewed celebrities from all over the world, the likes of Chanel Iman, Jeremy Scott, Ed Sheeran, and a whole lot of other celebrities. Her work was also credited and recognised by Billboard Magazine.

Nomuzi is very comfortable in front of a crowd and quite often MC/hosts parties/events around Africa & is also known for her iconic fashion sense that is influential in the African urban youth culture.

Although Nomuzi is a television personality, she got her start in Benoni as a model. She has posed for lines such as "Khosi Nkosi @ YDE" and The Trading Post, amongst many and she walked "Palulu Love Pop Up Show". As a pageant queen, she held the titles of Miss Junior "St. Dustan's", "Miss Kensington" and her personal favourite "Miss Benoni 2

Her reign as Miss Benoni saw her getting very involved in the well being and upliftment of women and children of Benoni, as she worked with the "Ithemba Rape and Crisis Centre". Today she still continues that relationship and another special one with the children at Sibonelo Intermediary School.

With the personal motto; "Where there is life, there is hope", Nomuzi Mabena is definitely destined for greater things.
